Learning Contentment
It's a privilege to welcome RUF Pitt Campus Minister Gavin Breeden back to our pulpit. Gavin is looking at the letter to the Philippians and Paul's encouraging call to contentment in chapter 4. Jeremiah Burroughs, a Puritan pastor and one of the actual Westminster divines, wrote a famous and excellent work based on this passage called "The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment." Burroughs defined contentment as that "sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit that freely submits to and delights in God's fatherly disposal of every condition." What a need and blessing and freedom that is for us!
