Passage: Mark 4:26-34
Series: Mark
Duration: 27 mins 39 secs
As we move forward a few verses in Mark we come to the two last parables of the Kingdom in this set. Both are also about seed growing into something great. Both are also a bit tricky to understand but worth the effort. Jesus spoke "as they were ready to hear." May we be ready to hear.

Passage: Mark 4:1-20
Series: Mark
Duration: 25 mins 22 secs
Mark 4 begins with the well-known parable of The Sower. Also known as the parable of the Seed or the Soils and we will see why all three elements are important. There is also the matter of Jesus' interpretation of the parable and his explanation about why he teaches in that form at all. All material that has generated endless discussions over the years.

Passage: Mark 3:20-35
Series: Mark
Duration: 23 mins 37 secs
The latter part of Mark 3 has an interesting form. It begins and ends with Jesus' family and in between is further conflict with the scribes. His family fear he is "beside himself", the scribes come as an investigating committee but come with minds already made up. They believe he is operating as an agent of Satan. Jesus corrects both groups in ways that were shocking then and instructive now. Should give us some important things to think about.

Passage: Mark 2:18-22
Series: Mark
Duration: 24 mins 42 secs
We are continuing in Mark 2. Again this week only looking at a few verses. Jesus is asked why he and his disciples are not fasting. He answers with three pictures, each quite intriguing and instructive. I believe some of the instruction is especially useful in such a time as this.

Passage: Mark 2:13-17
Series: Mark
Duration: 23 mins 37 secs
We continue in Mark's Gospel. Another well-known scene. Jesus calls Levi, a tax collector, to be a disciple and then goes to dinner at his house. This, of course, raises eyebrows and questions. We will be trying to figure the what, why, and implications for us.

Passage: Mark 2:1-12
Series: Mark
Duration: 22 mins 32 secs
This week we will begin the second chapter of Mark. A familiar story found in all three synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke). Some young men vandalize the roof of (probably) Peter's house and seem to get away with it. We don't know much more about that because what happened inside the house was so much more important. Forgiveness, healing, and controversy. Central gospel information!

Passage: Mark 1:29-45
Series: Mark
Duration: 28 mins 25 secs
Finishing the first chapter of Mark. We'll read again a familiar story, I will tell you again a familiar story, and we'll all try to learn something. And bring some humble and grateful praise to our amazing Savior.

Passage: Mark 1:21-28
Series: Mark
Duration: 26 mins 17 secs
Moving a bit slower than I had anticipated when doing some preliminary work for this series. But, since we have started it and I as I dig in a bit, I am finding a deep richness to the text that I have missed before. Guess pretty much like everyone else I have always treated Mark like the middle child of the Gospels! The one we know is there but isn't Matthew or Luke or even the late unexpected arrival John. Anyway, here we will find Jesus beginning to teach and to heal. In this case an exorcism. The people were amazed. Me too. If you are not I will not have done my job well.
