It is Palm Sunday this week. We usually talk about some aspect of the Triumphal Entry but I found a passage in Revelation with palm branches also. A scene of great worship before the throne. Seems truly and deeply relevant to these strange and difficult times. Praying it will be both comforting and encouraging. Possible to be both just as it is possible (as we will see) for Jesus to be both the Lamb and the Shepherd!

We will stay in Philippians 4 this week. Just a few verses after the passage we looked at last week is Paul's well-known but too often ignored call to contentment. Well, actually he doesn't call us to it, he simply says he has learned it. But he does tell us to imitate him and it certainly is something rare and valuable we need to seek.

Passage: Amos 7:1-8:3
Series: Amos
Duration: 27 mins 25 secs
Amos recounts four visions and an encounter with a priest named Amaziah. This is the section with the fairly well known "I am not a prophet nor am I the son of a prophet!" Both the visions and the showdown are quite instructive.

In this next section, Amos quotes some famous words of Dr. Martin Luther King. Actually it is of course the other way around but (and you can Google it) some folks get it wrong and attribute Amos' words to Dr. King. Just as, as I have seen, Abraham Lincoln said "a house divided against itself cannot stand"! Anyway, we'll see what Amos and Dr. King had in mind.

Passage: Amos 5:1-17
Series: Amos
Duration: 26 mins 45 secs
Continuing in Amos. The prophet (sort of) takes up a funeral dirge over Israel. Interesting approach I probably won't try in a sermon any time soon. Promise. But much there to think about.
